137 Ventures is a multi-stage investment firm that partners with generational technology companies and their founders.  137 Ventures Management, LLC and its affiliates (“137 Ventures,” “we,” “our,” and/or “us”) value the privacy of individuals who use our website and related services (collectively, our “Services”). This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) covers the information we collect from you through our website, other online services, or when you otherwise interact with us.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we collect from our investors who invest with us in a personal or household capacity.  Please refer to our financial information privacy notice for more information.

Information We Collect

We may collect a variety of information from or about you or your devices from various sources, as described below.

If you do not provide your information when requested, you may not be able to use our Services if that information is necessary to provide you with our Services or if we are legally required to collect it.

A. Information You Provide to Us.

Investor Portal Registration Information. If you sign up for an investor portal account on our Services, we ask you for your name, email address, and phone number.

Institutional Investor Information. We collect information about representatives associated with our institutional investors, including identification such as Social Security number or other government issued identification number, driver’s license and other identity documents, date and place of birth, citizenship, and profession, as well as information about your investment activity and financial accounts.

Communications. If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you. For example, when you contact our Investor Relations Team, we will receive your name, email address, phone number, company, the contents of a message or attachments that you may send to us, and other information you choose to provide. If you subscribe to our newsletter, then we will collect certain information from you, such as your email address. When we send you emails, we may track whether you open them to learn how to deliver a better customer experience and improve our Services.

B. Information We Collect When You Use Our Services.

Location Information. When you use our Services, we may infer your general location information, for example, by using your internet protocol (IP) address.

Device Information. We may receive information about the device and software you use to access our Services, including internet protocol (IP) address, web browser type, operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, application installations, device identifiers, mobile advertising identifiers, and push notification tokens.

Usage Information. To help us understand how you use our Services and to help us improve them, we automatically receive information about your interactions with our Services, like the pages or other content you view, investments you make, and the dates and times of your visits.

C. Information We Receive from Third Parties.

Third Parties and Affiliates. We may receive additional information about you, from affiliates and third parties and combine it with other information we have about you. For example, we may obtain personal information from third-party databases and data providers, including for identity verification and regulatory checks. This could include your credit and identity information, information about criminal convictions or offenses, government watch lists, and information about affiliations to government officials from publicly available and accessible registries and sources, and third-party compliance checking providers used to perform due diligence and other screening activities, to help us confirm your identity, prevent and detect unlawful activity, and comply with our regulatory obligations.

How We Use the Information We Collect

  • To provide, maintain, improve, and enhance our Services;
  • To communicate with you, provide you with updates and other information relating to our Services, provide information that you request, respond to comments and questions, and otherwise provide customer support;
  • For marketing purposes, such as developing and providing promotional and advertising materials that may be useful, relevant, valuable or otherwise of interest to you;
  • To assess and process investment applications and administer investments, including to receive and make payments and communicate with you in connection with your investment;
  • To verify your identity in order to prevent fraud or other financial crime and comply with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements in relation to anti-money laundering and terrorist financing requirements including our in-house procedures;
  • To administer our business, including to conduct audits, implement risk management processes, deploy corporate governance, provide you with tax documentation, maintain and monitor IT systems and manage third party service providers;
  • To meet our legal, regulatory, reporting and/or financial obligations (including purposes ancillary to the management and operation of our business and/or any of our investments) or of any of our service providers including complying with requests from, and requirements of, local or foreign regulatory or law enforcement authorities, tax identification and reporting as applicable; and
  • For compliance, fraud prevention, and safety, including to: (a) protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims); (b) enforce the terms and conditions that govern our services; and (c) protect, investigate and deter against fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical or illegal activity.

How We Share the Information We Collect

We may share or otherwise disclose information we collect from or about you as described below or otherwise disclosed to you at the time of the collection.

Affiliates. We may share any information we receive with our corporate affiliates for any of the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Vendors and Service Providers.We may share any information we receive with vendors and service providers retained in connection with the provision of our Services. These vendors and service providers include such as hosting and cloud services providers, email archiving services, providers of client relationship management software, analytics partners, investment management systems, and reporting software. We may also share information with vendors of large language models and other AI systems.

Marketing. We do not rent, sell, or share information about you with non affiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission.

As Required By Law and Similar Disclosures. We may access, preserve, and disclose your information if we believe doing so is required or appropriate to: (a) comply with law enforcement requests and legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; (b) respond to your requests; or (c) protect your, our, or others’ rights, property, or safety. For the avoidance of doubt, the disclosure of your information may occur if you post any objectionable content on or through the Services.

Merger, Sale, or Other Asset Transfers. We may disclose and transfer your information to service providers, advisors, potential transactional partners, or other third parties in connection with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a corporate transaction in which we are acquired by or merged with another company or we sell, liquidate, or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets.

Consent. We may also disclose information from or about you or your devices with your permission.

Marketing Communications. You can unsubscribe from our promotional emails by responding to the emails with such requests. Even if you opt-out of receiving promotional messages from us, you will continue to receive administrative messages from us.

  • Access, Correction and Deletion. You may also have the right to request access to your personal information, to correct personal information that is out of date or inaccurate, or to delete personal information that is no longer needed for a permitted purpose. We may ask for specific information from you to help us confirm your identity. Online Tracking Opt-Out. There are a number of ways to limit online tracking, which we have summarized below:

  • Blocking cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you remove or reject cookies, including cookies used for interest-based advertising. To do this, follow the instructions in your browser settings. Many browsers accept cookies by default until you change your settings. We make reasonable efforts to protect your information by using physical and electronic safeguards designed to improve the security of the information we maintain. However, as our Services are hosted electronically, we can make no guarantees as to the security or privacy of your information.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information from children under 18 years of age, and no part of our Services are directed to children. International Visitors

Our Services are hosted in the United States and intended for visitors located within the United States. If you choose to use the Services from the European Union or other regions of the world with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from U.S. law, then please note that you are transferring your personal information outside of those regions to the United States for storage and processing. Also, we may transfer your data from the U.S. to other countries or regions in connection with storage and processing of data, fulfilling your requests, and operating the Services.
